Carl Boardley Motorsport Official Press Release.

Weather Frustrates Snetterton Test.

Sadly the unseasonal weather was the deciding factor of the Goodyear/BTCC Tyre Test at Snetterton last week as the BTCC Championship Series came out of Lockdown as it prepares for the rescheduled season debut at Donington on August 1st and 2nd.

During the three month Lockdown period, Carl Boardley had personally overseen the rebuild and preparation of his BMW 1 Series almost to the last nut and bolt and it was anticipated the two day Test would provide an opportunity for the #TeamHARD Driver to further his development programme.

Boardley commented, ‘we commenced Tuesdays Test with a Base set – up on old tyres just so I could familiarise myself with the car again having been unable to drive it since March. I was pleased with my times and the Team and I were just about to make some changes when the rain arrived. From then on I found myself having to struggle for the right balance of grip and feel with the car as the track kept changing all the time in the rain.’

Sadly the rain did not yield the following day for part two of the Test and despite parking the car for the first hour in the hope conditions would improve, there was no let - up and Boardley was forced to make his runs in traffic and unable to run the programme he originally wanted.

‘It became a frustrating two days really because we planned ahead to reach certain objectives during the Test which sadly we could not achieve because the weather had other ideas’ – commented Boardley. ‘On a positive I achieved top fifteen times, at one point even a P3 and that was without the set – up I really wanted and on older Wet Tyres too! All that said, we were still able to get some good running in the car in challenging conditions as I am sure we will encounter such conditions at some point in the season.’

With the Test completed as best as possible, it’s now full steam ahead in preparation for Round one of the Goodyear/BTCC Championship in three weeks.

It is anticipated that Guests and Hospitality will return to the Championships at some stage this year. TOCA/BTCC executives are in daily contact with Government Officials and are working towards this objective in the not too distant future. CBM will inform our much valued Sponsors of this position as further news becomes available.
