28/09/2011.With preparations on-going the team will head to Rockingham this Saturday for what will be the final oval meeting of the year, everythings crossed at present with hopefully a change in fortunes reliability wise.26/09/2011.After finishing the engine instalation the truck team headed off to Snetterton, after a couple of gentle laps bedding everything in, the gearbox duly let go in a big way with bits out of the side! After changing the box and with broken seals starting the races from the back of the grid, things were afoot for a decent finish until problems with that gearbox meant the last two laps coasting round with a sixth place finish. Race two, (another g/box later) and after working through the field a puncture with 2 laps to run meant a pit stop to change it which scuppered any chance of a good finish. 23/09/2011.With the engine arriving back from Exon Race Engines lunchtime today, plans are to work tonight until completion and (hopefully) have the Truck finished and loaded to go to Snetterton Sunday. Many thanks to Paul for a superb turnaround.15/09/2011.Well, if Rockingham was dismal, Mallory had to be the 'all time low'. With the rules what they are the team decided the only way to compete for this weekend especially was to refit the newly rebuilt Ford engine. Qualifying saw a few gentle laps and a visit to the pits to check everything was ok, 2 laps later the engine had seized in much the same way as before. I decided that there was no way we were spending hours to change back to the Vauxhall to then be underpowered once again so that was the end of our racing for the day. Very disapointing considering the format of two heats and a grand final.7/09/2011.After a pretty dismal Rockingham last time out when we struggled with understeer all weekend the truck team head to Mallory Park this weekend for what promises to be an eventful Sunday's racing. With qualifying, 2 heats and a grand final it will be busy although such a timetable is certainly one that we are more accustomed to. It's been a busy three weeks with various 'different' parts fitted to the truck. Fingers crossed that these all work!18/08/2011.All the required alterations have been carried out to the Pickup Truck ahead of this weekends visit to Rockingham Motor Speedway on the awesome 1.5 mile oval. Qualifying & two races (sat & sun) with hopefully some good placings.15/08/2011With work being extremely busy of late the news has been rather slow in being updated. Some good (and a few mixed) results have been the order of the day with the Pickup racing. After rounds 15 & 16 at Thruxton we are in contention at the sharp end of the championship. One win, three further podiums, three fastest laps including two Donnington Park lap records, one Rockingham wall visit, one engine blow up and plenty of laughs along the way.21/04/2011.The Pickup has been readied for it's first outing to Donnington Park, Sat/ Sun 23/24th and the transporter all loaded and ready for the off. With two heats and a final on the agenda and the weather (supposed) to be good we hope for some close racing.12/04/2011.Friday evening had the Pickup team make the long journey to Pembrey circuit in Wales. Saturday was warm and bright and saw the drivers second visit so learning the track was not going to be too much of an issue. We set the quickest time in 1st qualifying and 2nd quickest in the second session. A few adjustments later came race one. Several 'grass moments' were encountered and a 4th place which should have been a lot better. Race two saw a three way dice between ourselves and Trucks 22 & 16. Third was the placing after a lot of dicing and swapping places and a thoroughly enjoyable race with plenty of respect being shown. The final was a longer distance race in which we set the quickest time of the day, 7th was to be a very dismal placing considering we had got up to third at one point, 'pilot error' being the downfall with a major 'tankslapper' on the grass losing us places tenfold. On reflection though a very enjoyable weekend had by all and we now concentrate on preparations for the first of three meetings at Donnington Park, again a venue never yet experienced by the driver.29/03/2011.The weekend of the 26th saw the Pickup team off to Brands Hatch for the first time ever. I had never even stepped foot inside the place before so a steep learning curve was about to be embarked upon. Qualifying will be put down to experience as a couple of teething problems were encountered and a mere 3 laps were all that was posted on the lapsheets with 2 of those via the pitlane! Race one was a different story though and after the first few laps of finding our feet we set a decent pace. 9th place was all that our efforts were rewarded with as a somewhat 'rash' move from a fellow driver resulted in a spin for the 41 truck. One surprise was that we were 2nd quickest on the laptimer. Race two was a lot better and having broken clear of the main pack we had clear air behind. After the laps had run out we had finished 2nd at the chequers, all in all a good weekend had by all and we now look forward to our trip to Wales for the next round.08/03/2011.After several modifications over the previous few weeks the team got the basics of the Pickup back together last night only leaving a few finishing off jobs to complete. All team members are looking forward now to the seasons opener at Brands Hatch on the 26th which will see the drivers first ever visit to the circuit!23/02/2011.The 'new build' National Hot Rod is now nearing completion and the car will break cover at Foxhall raceway on Saturday 26th Feb and have a gentle 'shakedown' session.31/01/2011.Also running alongside the new build as detailed below the team are currently preparing the Pickup for the seasons racing in 2011. Modifications are being carried out to parts while the engine is also having some attention and new regulations are meaning a bit of development on that front also.11/01/2011.Over the winter 'Carl Boardley Preparations' have been commissioned to build a brand new National Hot Rod for a current well known Hot Rod pilot. All the parts were sourced in readiness for the build which is coming along nicely at present.12/12/2010.A bit of time has lapsed since the last outings for the team due to another new arrival at home on 31st October, however the team faired well at the final two Rockingham rounds of the season with a third placed finish at the 1st meeting and a sixth & second placed finishes at the last round. This all bodes well for the new season with certain improvements to be added to the Truck over the winter.17/08/2010.Friday night was a hectic one, the transporter got finished, loaded, and we set off on the journey to Pembrey, only for a major delay on the A12 and sitting in stationary traffic for 3 hours. We finally arrived Sat morning and duly unloaded. The format of 3 races over the weekend is certainly something we are familiar with and race one saw a fifth position. Race two was better with a podium third position and a fastest lap of the race while the Final was a repeat of heat 2 with another podium in third position. All in all a great weekend as the team & driver continue to find their feet with certain improvements to come.12/08/2010.The team collected a new race transporter today so every effort will be made to give it it's first outing at the weekend when the Truck team will venture down to Pembrey race circuit.09/08/2010.The team ventured down to Andover at the weekend to Thruxton race circuit for what was our first 'circuit' meeting ever. While not entirely knowing what to expect we all enjoyed it emensely. Qualifying saw a mistake and has now earned the driver the nickname of 'Qualcast' but after this we managed to pick up the pace and had two good finishes and achieved the fastest lap in the 2nd race.08/07/2010.As stated before the weekend this was to be our 'swansong' and I would just like to thank all the fans/ supporters for their best wishes. Also on the list of thanks are: Richard (Dad), Steve, Darren, Tom, Dave Singleton, Tony (Kent Cams), Mike Edwards, Harry (Image), Chris (A1), Biggie (Cattermoles), Mark (Elite), Ludlow Motorsport, Mark (Six-0), Paul (Teng Tools), Ian Gardiner, Sonny Howard, Graham & Angie & everyone at the NHRPA.07/07/2010.Well lady luck had to run out sometime and that's exactly what happened on Sunday afternoon in the 75 lap feature race of the weekend. After setting pole on the Saturday with an identical time to the one we set last year the whole team were extremely confident about our chances the following day. As is normal the early laps were about staying near the front and after bedding the car in just started to stretch our legs a little when a couple of backmarkers spun and I collected one of them causing damage and a retirement from the race. Chris Haird duly took over and held on to win. Myself and everyone at 'Team 41' would like to congratulate Chris and David on their achievement and it's nice to see proper genuine people coming out on top.29/06/2010.All the team have been busy the last couple of weeks, including Dave at Boss Engines to ready the Tigra for this coming weekends World Championships. We will be attempting to hold onto the title for the Fifth consecutive year. Just a few finishing touches remain. On Friday this week we will be attending BBC Radio Suffolk as a sofa guest on the Lesley Dolphin show to give listeners an insight into the racing.23/06/2010.All the 41 crew would like to wish Darren a Happy 40th!21/06/2010.Tha annual 'warm-up' for the July race took place at Foxhall raceway on Saturday with several visiting drivers from across the Irish sea & beyond making their way over. As the Tigra was in the worksops as a spaceframe the Mercedes SLK was dusted off & used. The first heat went ok but then rain ensued which made track conditions a little difficult. The final itself we went for a gamble with tyres which didn't pay off but the car came back undamaged albeit a little dirty! 14/06/2010.A cracking day at Mallory Park yesterday saw the Pick-up team start their first races of the season, and duly went on to win the second of the three races. The first heat started well and when challenging for the lead found some green stuff! which resulted in a puncture and finishing a couple of laps down. The second heat (after some set-up changes) started well and we took the lead on lap 2 and manged to stay in front to the chequers. The Final race also started well but we slipped down the order a little but managed an eighth place. All in all a very good day (and previous evening!) and now we will ready the Pick-up for Thruxton in a few weeeks time.09/06/2010.Various set-up changes were put onto the Pick-up last night in readiness for (hopefully this time!) it's first races of the season having got no further than the practice session at Rockingham last time out. A steep lurning curve is expected as this will be the first time either driver or team have been 'circuit racing', roll on sunday.07/06/2010.The last qualifying round took place yesterday at Northampton raceway with approx 30 cars in attendance. The weather was good all day which was a bonus. We managed reasonable places in all races with the car coming home (for the first time in a while) with all four wheels pointing in the direction they started in! A group 1 finish was ideally required and that's what we finished with, Chris Haird had a good day and finished as the points champion (well done mate). Our attentions now turn to a complete rebuild of the Tigra in readiness for July's race. We are hoping to race at Foxhall on June 19th and will give the Mercedes another airing.03/05/2010.The first bank holiday in May had the Hot Rods at Hednesford hills raceway. Again an entry of around 40 cars present meant that scoring bagfulls of points from the back of the grid was going to be a tall order. The weather played havoc all day and every race was a tyre selection best chosen by the toss of a coin! Three finishes keeps us handily placed in the points standings.ars in readiness for the year ahead.
